On Thursday, June 28 and Friday, June 29, 2013 (Church calendar), the memory of the holy, glorious and all-lauded and foremost of the Apostles, Peter and Paul was celebrated most solemnly in the Cathedral of St. Markella in Astoria, N.Y., and His Eminence, Metropolitan Pavlos of America celebrated his name’s day.
The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Eminence, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Attica and Boeotia together with Their Graces, Bishop Demetrius of Boston, and Christodoulos of Theoupolis, and clergy from the Cathedral, the parish of St. Isidore – Bethpage NY, and the Holy Ascension Monastery – Bearsville, NY.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a memorial service was served for the the repose of the soul of the ever-memorable Metropolitan Petros of Astoria (+1997), the founder of St. Markella’s Cathedral.
