The Tenth Meeting with Those in Resistance

The Dialogue between the Church of the G.O.C. of Greece and the Orthodox Ecclesiastical Community of Those in Resistance

Tenth Joint Statement

Thursday, December 20, 2013/January 2, 2014, at around 5:00 p.m., the Tenth Joint Deliberation of the Committees for Dialogue Between the Church of the G.O.C. of Greece and the Orthodox Ecclesiastical Community in Resistance took place in Galatsion, Athens, in the hall of the Church of St. Spyridon.

All of the appointed members of both committees were present, except for the Reverend Father Jiří Ján, who was absent abroad.

At the outset, there was a discussion about certain unfinished documents. The deficiencies in these were pointed out, so that the Secretariats of the two committees might make it their concern to resolve them.

Subsequently, His Grace, Bishop Photios of Marathon informed those present about the recent visit of His Beatitude, Archbishop Kallinikos of the G.O.C. of Athens to the Church of the G.O.C. of Romania, accompanied by three Hierarchs, including himself.

His Grace conveyed the desire of the Genuine Orthodox Hierarchs of Romania for the attainment of unity between the Church of the G.O.C. of Greece and the Orthodox Ecclesiastical Community in Resistance on the basis of a common confession, pertaining chiefly to ecclesiology, and also their desire to come to Greece in order to participate in a three-day meeting and consultation, for the purpose of arriving at a joint accord on the subject of ecclesiology.

In view of this, there was a discussion of the basic framework of a joint ecclesiological statement, which will constitute the primary objective of the forthcoming Joint Deliberations until the three-day meeting in question.

The next Joint Deliberation will take place on Thursday January 3/16, 2014 in the Monastery of Sts. Cyprian and Justina in Phylē, Attica.

From the Joint Secretariat of the Committees for Dialogue.
