The Vigil Service in Honor of Saint Demetrius the Great-Martyr

With great joy and festivity, the monastery of Saint John of San Francisco celebrated the vigil service in honor of Saint Demetrius the Great-Martyr. According to the typicon of the monastery, the ancient prefestal hymns (some of which were composed by Saint Romanos the composer of hymns), were chanted in anticipation, starting one week before the feast.

His Eminence, Metropolitan Moses of Toronto, came to celebrate; as well as Father Elias Aldreaedi, Father George Psaromatis, and many faithful which traveled from different parishes of the Metropolis.

The vigil service was completed sometime after 3:00 AM.

May Saint Demetrius always protect and defend our Metropolitan, and the Holy Metropolis of America.
