Luka Sanader was born in the city of Belgrade, Serbia (former Yugoslavia) where he grew up during the turbulent times, conflict and Civil War. Luka went to elementary and high school in Belgrade followed by the studies at Philosophy Faculty of Belgrade University and then at the Film Academy of BK University. in 2004 he got the Masters Degree at Academy of Arts. Lukas’s family on both sides suffered tremendously during the Holocaust during the Second World War and later on by Communist persecutions, and as many Serbs he grew up estranged from the Church. When he was in his late twenties by God’s providence he came to the Faith and returned to his Orthodox roots. Аfter years as a catechumen, in obedience and study of Theology, Luka received Holy Baptism within the Church of the GOC, receiving the name Luke/Λουκᾶς after Saint Luke the Evangelist; finally, he had became a organic part of The Church!
Deacon Luka has lived in Montreal, Canada since 2007. He is married to Genevieve and has two daughters: Mila and Masha. He is a deacon at Saint Markos Eugenikos Church in Montreal since December 2018.
