A year into the siege of Cyprus the Muslim Sultan was puzzled by the delay in defeating the Christian Island. Cyprus was surrounded by the entire Turkish Naval force. The Orthodox Christian defenders were out-numbered 10 to 1. The Sultan asked the Commander of the Muslim Forces, “Why hasn’t Cyprus yet Fallen?”
The Muslim Commander answered, “Your Imperial Resplendentness, Cyprus has not yet fallen because she is defended by giants.”
